Biography

Morehu Ngatoko

Morehu Ngatoko is a descendent from the tribe of Ngāti Ranginui and from the sub-tribe of Ngāitamarawaho. He is a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM). Of recent years Morehu has played a significant role in his tribe’s Treaty claims. He actively guides and supports the kaupapa Te Kotahitanga and its wider whānau and has done this since 2001.

Rangiwhakaehu Walker

Rangiwhakaehu Walker is a descendent from the tribe of Ngāti Ranginui and from the sub-tribe of Ngāi Te Ahi. Following dedicated years of support for Te Kōhanga Reo in Tauranga and nationally she was awarded the Te Tohu Tino Rangatira Whakapākari o Te Kōhanga Reo, Queen’s Service Medal (QSM). Aunty Nan was one of the original Te Kotahitanga researchers and has continued to be a staunch supporter of Te Kotahitanga since 2001.

In her doctoral thesis Dr Mere Berryman acknowledges that Morehu, Aunty Nan and Aunty Mate as part of a research whānau of interest.
